The Stain - Verge Gallery. 9th May - 3rd June, 2011.

Andrew Newman, Ben Terakes, Clare Milledge, Leah McPherson and Stefan Popescu.

Curated by Leah McPherson

The stain focuses on what is created through performance and what can happen when this material is shown later, in place of performance documentation. The exhibition features methods and mediums of documenting performance that are alternatives to documenting the act itself, addressing that which is left behind–the performance’s stain or residue. The artists each consider the value of the stain to be equal to that of the performance itself and choose to exhibit it in the place of conventional photographic or video performance documentation.

Where: Verge Gallery, Jane Foss Russell Plaza, City Road, Darlington
When: Opening night on Thursday 12 May, 2011, 6 - 8 pm.
Exhibition on display from Monday 9 May - Friday 3 June
